Halloween is a favorite fall holiday, and it’s a good one. Between the haunted houses, the parties, costumes and of course, all of that candy, you might be thinking of doing a run with your pooch to keep the pudge off.

These fun runs will allow you to get exercise with your dog and have fun at the same time! Just make sure your dog is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Also, be sure to read all of the rules.

Now, put that costume on your pooch – don’t forget yours – and lace up those running shoes!

1. Halloween Dog & Jog Fun Run/Walk – Imerman Memorial Park, Saginaw Township, Mich. (map), Oct. 6, 8 a.m.

You and your pooch are welcome to dress up and hit the pavement. The fun starts with a costume contest and judging at 9 a.m. The race will begin at 10:30 a.m.

2. Halloween Hustle – Stony Creek Metropark – Eastwood Beach, Shelby Township, Mich. (map), Oct. 26, 9:30 a.m.

This super-fun Halloween race is a family event not to be missed. The event starts with a costume contest and ends with a fun run for kids.

3. Halloween Bark For Life Walk – Holbrook-Palmer Park, Atherton, Calif. (map), Oct. 26, 9 a.m.

Geared toward pups and kids, this free and family friendly event will provide kids and dogs with sweets, snacks and biscuits while they go trick-or-treating along the Trick or Treat Trail!
